Stopping the habit

I drink mainly at weekends, usually a Friday and Saturday night. My Saturday and Sundays are usually spent feeling like hell and I hate this . I drink usually 7-10 premium beers. A few times I've sworn to quit but come Friday I feel better and justify drinking, then do it again.

I have a young family and would rather spend weekend with them without a hangover.

I know the drinking may not sound a lot but its every weekend for the last 10 years at least, so I need to stop now.

I hope I can get through the first few weekends with the help of this forum,
thanks.

Also wanted to ask, my withdrawl syptoms are mild, just a bad hangover and crap feeling for a few days. Will I notice any other benefits over the next month/6 months years as I give up?

Welcome to the boards.

I can't drink anymore; the taste turns me off. I am a pain pill addict but I like posting here too.

Have you ever considered going to an AA meeting??

I am in the very early stages of recovery and don't have much advice but I just wanted to welcome you.

Others will be around with more knowledge than I.. keep on posting!!!

Hello and Welcome!

I suggest you use all methods you can find to stay
sober.
For me that is on line support and AA meetings too.

As you have a young family..the best benefit will be the
fact you are there to enjoy them. You will also save
money and your health will improve.

Take care..Good for you!

im by no means an expert here, and i drank a bit more, and havent been drinking for going on over two weeks. I bet if you were to find something to occupy your time on the weekends rather than the routine you've set yourself into it wouldnt be to hard to stop (if you truly want to stop)
For instance, I now occupy my time w/ ps2 and the eliptical when I get home, so Im feeling much better now that im getting some regular exercise and I dont think about drinkin out of boredom when i'm trying to get the 49ers to the playoffs since they cant manage that in the real world.

Good Luck!
