I often get uncomfortable at my sis's parties.....I volunteer to babysit the kids (take them upstairs to read them books or put them to bed) or often wander off (escape unnoticed) and go for a walk and disappear for awhile. One time hubby and I spent 3 hours sitting by the creek during a party, watching the fish and discussing nature.
They get used to it.
