How is everyone?
I don't come here much anymore, but was here a lot during my first year. Just wondering how everyone is doing under these extraordinary circumstances. I haven't been to a face to face meeting since Saturday, I'm in NYC, so most meetings have gone online, Zoom, or conference call. Kinda miss the in-person meetings. Online is an ok substitute. Just feeling a little lonely right now. I'm reaching out, especially to newcomers who are counting days (I can't imagine how they are feeling right now). It's very easy to get in a negative headspace, but I am staying positive. It helps to know that there are people in the same boat, indeed there are people who are much worse off, so I feel a lot of gratitude right now. Take care everyone.
All the meetings I attended over the past 29
yrs has been like depositing money in the bank.
All the knowledge and lessons I have learned
and continue to learn have added up to a good
sum to fall back on each day I remain sober.
Coming here to SR over the yrs has been a continuation
of my journey in recovery. What was so freely passed on
to me over the yrs has allowed me to do the same to the
new comer or those struggling with addiction and recovery.
With willingness, openmindedness and honesty I live
my life remaining teachable and of service to others
all to the best of my human ability.
I never feel alone here in SR when im sharing with
others. Knowing that none of us have to go thru anything
in life alone or by ourselves is a comforting feeling.
There's always gonna be someone who has been there
done that same similar thing as us and in sharing our
own experiences, strengths and hopes with each other
then that can help each of us achieve many of lifes
rewarding gifts. Health and happiness. Serenity and
peace. Freedom from our addiction.
With all that is stirring around out there in the
world, I find peace here amongst many just like
me, even if we've never meet face to face.
Having a purpose in life, being responsible for my
life in recovery keeps me coming back to SR time
and time again. Faith, hope, love, care, support and
understanding. Friendships and fellowship in recovery.
I, too am doing well and wanted to say thank you
for asking.

Hi, Swinyc, and good on you for reaching out. I got sober on another board and still visit it from time to time, as well lurk here once in a while.
They told me to work my recovery like I worked my drinking and I was either thinkin' or drinkin' 24/7, so I attend alot of meetings and stay engaged with others.
Like elsewhere, the meetings have had to take precautions, but that doesn't mean I cannot call a couple folks on the Telephone List and have an impromptu meeting at a park, pavillion, or parking lot--and have. Calling others, too, helps, chatrooms, and so on.
Settle in, throw up a topic, and stay sober with the rest of the folks here.
It's nice to have a solution when uncertainties arise, ain't it?

Most of our face to face meetings are shut here in the U.K.,I wouldn’t attend at the moment anyway.
I am finding it hard to accept being in self isolation for 12 weeks.Taking it a day at a time and handing over regularly.
We have a lot of online meetings,so lucky in that respect.

Doing better than I was last night.
I keep a pretty solid routine, attend a few meetings a week, meet with sponsees regularly, talk with other alcoholics every day.
I drive for a living (courier), most of what I do is delivering lab work from clinics & hospitals. So when this started, being at a higher risk to catch covid19, I've heard the virus is super contagious, and I could be infected without knowing. I made a conscious decision to stay away from "in-person" AA activities.
Last night FEAR hit me like a ton of bricks. Powerless. and I couldn't shake it. Thank God I'm doing better today.
I've tried the online AA thing before along with SR it's just not my cup of tea. Guess I will give it another chance. Bunch of meetings are using Zoom. I'll start with that.

Woke up Saturday morning with a bit of a sore throat, Sunday morning a little worse and this morning (it's Monday in NZ now) it's blocked sinuses, a wooden head, phlegm, mild aches and lethargic.
Trying not to freak myself or anyone else out.
From what I've read, Corona is like the worst dose of the flu you've ever had times 5.
This seems like the usual dose and not severe.
Plus, I'd be the first case of community transmission in the South Island, so ... what are the odds ?
Just read, there are only 3 cases in Canterbury province, 2 of those flown back from LA recently and the 3rd from Singapore.
Going for a test at the doctor's later today just to be safe.
First dose of anything in years, so guess I was due something but the timing could have been a lot better 😳🙄

Desperate times call for desperate measures, so please do not dismiss anything that helps push back the desire to F Everything And Run (see what I did there?).
Stay Sobah!!!

Thanks Dave
Still not 100% after 2 days in bed, but no high temperature or difficulty breathing, so got knocked back for a test on that basis.
Feeling a lot better though so should be all good 😊
