I've been to 16 mental hospitals sober and got of a court case being deemed not sane to stand trial. Never have I faced more stigma then at certain places so what take medication. I study from the sumerian tablets to new age looking for a cure couldn't find one. But I caught alcoholism I had 3.5 years made all amends then 4 months made all amends now I had to up the ante and have my own Conception of God AA gave me the freedom to see were religious people are right but I'm a Spiritualist I blended many religions and new age to have my own conception. I love AA I'd be dead without it I have paranoia I've done all these steps I love this fellowship I've lost the obsession to drink that doesn't mean your recovered like Boleo told me you can recover from a gunshot wound and get shot again. So I'm recovering I have the Vital Six Sense. Now when if I get a year I'll look at mental wards for a pigeon but right now I'm in a hole new world love meetings love service love unity. Respect anyone's belief in anything yes I take mood and mind altering drugs I'm a recovered chronic porn addict and gambler just part of untreated alcoholism.

dsmaxis10 03-27-2017 06:48 PM

Man I get upset d-- people thinking AA cures schizophrenia but it doesn't cure alcoholism does that make sense well I can't leave I need AA. Why because I'm gonna start using my AA mentor from long ago.

dsmaxis10 03-28-2017 12:05 AM

Is it me or am I the only one that saw that the book AA says Christ!!! Which in Greek means Chosen One Hebrew Messiah!!! So Christ the Chosen One Messiah not to closely followed by his fellows!!!

dsmaxis10 03-28-2017 12:57 AM

Book AA says Father of Light which connects to James 1:17 so does Faith without works is dead. Dr Bob wanted to call it the James movement Bill Wilson wanted to call it the Bill Wilson movement because he had a lot less humility then Dr Bob who sponsored 1000 times more alcoholics. Bill Wilson got paid by AA because he was to good to work.

I know very little about religious teachings dsmaxis10, only the things that I learned were at Sunday School, and I only went then to that so I could get the free little cards with the pretty pictures they handed out out out the end.

When I was at school (Australia) you could elect not to go to Scripture, so I was in the "Tree Lover's Club", where we drew pictures of trees growing in the playground with charcoal. It was really cool, with only a few members, and so glad to be away from the Scripture Teacher who really was a mean old man. This does not mean that I don't have a 'spiritual' part to my being, I do, and the best way I can describe that is to say that I'm a humanist. Maybe I should start a group with the acronym H? It stands for Harmless :).

I'm glad you are still going to AA and seem to contributing at all levels, and no, AA won't cure schizophrenia, but it can help keep you sober. My brother learned that same lesson.

I so wish you the best dsmaxis schizophrenia is very difficult to deal with, and you are doing so well. Sober, being of service, and having a new mentor.

Do you have any schizophrenia support groups where you are? We have them here, but I suppose you have already checked them out?

Enjoy your meeting, and I believe you would be of great service to AA because schizophrenia (in all its forms) is more prevelant than people care to recognise.

Peace, dsmaxis.

I just want ti be excepted and loved like I love them I;m just trying ti get someone to argue with me!!! I did all my amends all I have is a daily reprieve no I;m not a Christian but I love em just like I love Muslim .

dsmaxis10 03-28-2017 02:13 PM

I need AA I need Schizophrenia Anonymous I need DBSA depresion bipolar support Alliance I need NAMI but if you just take meds and expect that to be all your doomed Spiritualism will get read of the paranoid mania depression along with meds for the real deal not some drug addict screwed up from drugs going to AA telling people not to take meds it's happening all over AA and I'm gonna write a book about it because stigma needs to be crushed!!!

it was in bills story- it was bill that used the word

Steely 03-28-2017 03:50 PM

The stigma certainly does need to be crushed dsmaxis.

I can remember many years ago when, by chance, a bumped into a man I knew from AA, and it was clear that he was having a psychotic episode. He had been told by members to stop taking his meds, and that all he needed to do was his 4th Step! I had to have him hospitalised.

I thought that sort of thinking was no longer around AA and sorry that it's happened to you.

My brother no longer goes to NA because of the very stigma you describe.

AA is not the venue to have religious "arguments" dsmaxis10, it's a place of support for people who are trying to get sober. Arguments on religion are not what it's about.

Really glad you have all the other supports in place. Supports that are devoted to your own specific needs and stigma free.

Berrybean 03-28-2017 10:00 PM

Perhaps you can just not talk about your prescribed meds or about religion in the rooms. They are both very personal. None of anyone else's business. Plenty of recovery stuff to talk about in the rooms without getting onto those subjects I reckon.

What does your sponsor suggest?

Wishing you all the best for your sobriety and recovery. BB

dsmaxis10 03-29-2017 02:34 PM

I don't have a sponsor i did my fifth step with my mom no shame in my game. Do I really need a sponsor to give me stigma that's why my first one has no front teeth.

AA as a hole doesn't have that view but play doctors who I ran into did. Nothin happened to me by mistake it made me stronger. the book AA says never belittle a good doctor or psychiatrist that's point on if your honest your a chronic alcoholic they will not give you medications to harm you. I put down in my medical chart I was allergic alcohol opiates and benzos that what honesty about I'm off benzos now. So if your not honest they could harm you.
