Like most other newcomers, I didn't want to stay around after the meeting. Now I do so most of the time. One of the frustrations is that a lot of the chat seems to go on outside when people are smoking. Seeing as I am battling an addiction to cigarettes, this is annoying. Anyway, scrounging the occassional cigarette in the street outside the meeting in return for a bit of conversation and company is probably not the worst thing in the world. If I went back to the drink, I'd be smoking like a chimney by the time the first few beers were down my throat!

And I am truly just trying to remind people to be kind. Encouragement helps many people more than criticism and the negativity of the aftermeeting may be well-intentioned but it does not always help.

I learned on this site that this is not the way the program has to be.
