Trying to get my life on track I signed up to be a mentor to a teenager at this place called the Matthews house near my house. I'm only in my twenties so I don't know how much wisdom I have to offer. I thought this would get me out of my head because that is a bad place for me to be and it would help me find a job. I started applying for jobs. My first informational meeting is in february. I'm excited for this can't wait. |

You don't have to be a fountain of wise sayings or have mystical teachings to be a mentor. Just being there for them, listening, guiding, suggesting, sharing your experience....that is all you need to do. And be yourself. Sounds a lot like a sponsor.... Awesome. |

Great learning experience, I'm sure, awaits you. I used to sponsor Alateens. I'm telling you, that was THE best service commitment. For 5 years, those kids taught me so much.... |
