Big Book Quote "When ready, we say something like this: "My Creator, I am now willing that you should have all of me, good and bad. I pray that you remove from me every single defect of character which stands in the way of my usefulness to you and my fellows. Grant me strength, as I go out from here, to do your bidding. Amen." We have then completed Step Seven." ~ Alcoholics Anonymous 1st Edition Into Action pg 76 c Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, INC. |
The beauty of this prayer is that I have no say in what is being removed from me. I don't make that choice. What I think is a character defect may in fact be a strength that God uses to carry the message through me. All I can do is be receptive and connected to Him to do His will. It's that simple...for me at least! |
yeah, i had a misconception of this. thought i would be perfect and nothin would bother me!! no more defects/shortcomings!!! |

that's what I keep telling myself! |
Say this each morning. My prayer life is still on training wheels so need as much structure and simplicity with what and how to pray. Still beginning the ongoing work in progress of talking with God. |
