Newcomer to the Sobriety Recovery Community

My clean date is 9/20/95. I have become the person who I would have laughed at 13 years ago and yet am extremely gratefull to God and the Principles found in the 12 Steps. I am a firm believer the whole experience one looks to experience from the Steps is to be of service to God and others.

i am looking to exchange experiences and opions with others who have God as a central part of their lives which is why Im here.....

Welcome to SR Chancho, have you checked out the 12 step forum? Awesome folks there as well as here.

Always good to hear folks with a good deal of ES&H share.

Thank you all for the welcoming. I just met with one of my new sponcees. Going over his 5th Step. Thing is he likes the NA workbook. I have shared with him having had an experience from the Big Book. It works and it is design to have an experience with God, whereas other books are designed to have an experience with oneself.............boa-ring!!
Anyway i look to establish some relationships here with you good folks!

Wow, 13 years is a long time! ~Congratulations~ I am in my 7th month of recovery, am learning as I go along and know I have lots yet to learn. I have been struggling a lot with my feelings lately and am trying to understand them. Anxiety has been getting the best of me, but my goal is to learn to control it w/out pills. I hope to learn lots from everyone on this forum. So far, life has been much for fulfilling and I hope to continue down this path with Gods help. Thanks you!

Welcome to SR! My youngest son just moved to Queens (Astoria) a few months ago -- and he loves it!

....and I'm gonna comment already on something you've said:

"It works and it is design to have an experience with God, whereas other books are designed to have an experience with oneself.............boa-ring!!"

I totally agree that The Steps as outlined in the BB are designed so as to allow one to have an experience with God...and for me thus far, having an experience with God seems to necessitate my becoming more and more my true self, my "highest self," the self that only connection with God allows me to be. And, for me, that is not/has not been at all boring (neither the experience, nor the self being recovered in/through the experience). Actually, I'd have to say that my best guess is that God doesn't make "boring."
