A bit overwhelmed
I discovered that most of my reactions were the result of re-feeling many previous hurts. Mostly, the new 'hurt' was not so bad to warrant my reaction or over reaction, but as I'd never healed any of previous (over many, many years) and simply stuffed the feelings... when I 'blew' I 'blew' big.
These days I'm mostly not prone to such reactions and very rarely an over reaction, this came from seeing a good therapist in conjunction with going through the ACA's yellow book; which helped me pin point, identify and heal the older wounds.
Now I only feel new hurts, which are far easier to deal with than new hurt + x number of older hurts.
Take it easy

I've been trying not to put myself into triggering situations until I can understand this better. Your explanation makes a lot of sense.
I don't know what 'ACA' stands for but I'm going to research that.
Have a great day & thank you!
