ACOA Sourcebook and others

My books arrived today. I ordered The Complete ACOA Sourcebook by Woititiz, The Language of Letting Go, and The Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Workbook by Matthew McKay.

Been meaning to get the The Language of Letting Go for a while now. After reading some of the people posting selections from it here on the forums, I was sold. Great daily meditation book!

Also, my therapist is an ACOA and she is using some DBT in our sessions, so I went ahead and got the workbook. It had such great reviews. And I learned about the effectiveness of DBT back when I was getting my psychology degree. This particular workbook seems to be a favorite, even over Marsha Linehan's own books and workbooks. So, I went with the crowd favorite, according to the Amazon reviews anyway.

Anyone have these and care to comment on how they've helped you?

I was lucky and our local library had The Complete ACOA Sourcebook by Woititiz, it was one of the first books I read when I started my recovery. Reading it helped me to understand and recognize some of my negative and self defeating thought patterns. It inspired me to locate an ACA group and start working the steps. Which has helped me to become an actor in my own life instead of a reactor.

Thanks, Mracoa. I started reading it last night. Glad to have all 3-in-1. I've already read Claudia Black's It Will Never Happen to Me, and that really resonated for me.

I've already looked into ACOA groups. Closest one is an hour away unfortunately. In time, I'd consider starting one here. Going to spend a full year in sobriety though, before I attempt that.

Jennie,

Thats an impressive line-up of resources you have there!
In my early years of recovery I searched, researched and
sought everything that I could. The AA Big Book, right at
the beginning says "half measures availed us nothing".

Those who seek will find answers. Yes!
