AC0A..Big Book...

I just recently bought an AC0A big book and boy...I love my AA big book and NA Basic text, but this for me is on a totally different level. I started crying cause I felt like this book is about me. When the weather cools down a bit I will get to one of their meetings in manhattan. The laundry list I identify with all except one just a bit. As I continue to learn about being an Adult Child I will share my experience, strenght, and hopes. Thanks, Clean :tyou

It really is an excellent book -- but pretty intense. I go to a meeting that reads the book cover-to-cover (except Part III, which is mostly about the logistics of starting and running a group), and it gets pretty heavy-duty, in terms of the emotions that the readings bring up. That's what I like about ACA -- where Al-Anon is more along the lines of "take what you like and leave the rest," this book says, "Sit down and listen -- this is how you got to be where you are today, and if you want to get better, you have to face this stuff and own it." This program doesn't let you go through the motions -- it gets in your face and makes you work hard.....

I _love_ ACoA. For me, AA is what saved me from killing myself cuz of my addictions. Al-anon is what saved me from killing somebody else cuz of their addictions. ACoA is what gave me a life worth living.

Is there an actual name to the book or do you just google the ACOA big book and find it that way? Guess I'll go ahead and do some googling and answer my own question, lol.

Hi Clean,

Like yourself I love the BB and NA. After 3 years and a bit I feel I am coming up against stuff that is best addressed through the Big Red Book.

I have started attending ACA meetings and am working the steps. That is pretty intense for me. Now on step 4, which I feel completely different from the other programs. On the other hand: I hope (and trust) I am not who I was in early recovery, when I first worked the steps... I am learning a lot about myself all over again. On a different level, like you wrote.

Thanks for reminding me!

Best of luck with this wonderfull program,

Anders
