As a kid, birthdays were a nightmare. Anytime that I was cornered by a family event was serious danger for this ACoA. I still don't like birthdays, but I've come a long way from the overwhelming fear they used to cause. One of the biggest tools that have helped me heal in that area is my recovery "family" that celebrate my birthday with true joy and love.

You guys are my real family, the ones that understand how I feel. Thanx for making my birthday special :)

I can post all about it, as I kept a travel diary, but it's pretty long. It was not what we were expecting, but it was great to get away from everything. Earlier in the month I had to fly to a funeral - while the vacation wasn't what I was expecting, it was a far sight better than the funeral trip. I didn't get sunburned (yay!) and I didn't get seasick (double yay!), though I did get some impressive saddle sores that are going on day 5 now and still hurtin'.

Just being able to get away was a welcome relief, that's for sure. I have 2 more glorious days before I have to jump back into being a grown up again. Meanwhile, I'm going to goof off as much as possible.

It is to true a lot of the times I have read your posts and it was at times I NEEDED the wake up call! You have truly inspired me a lot on my journey-I'm getting it....but I must say that I want to be like you when I grow up and really GET IT! :wink:
