Great plan, hope you get a lot out of the meeting and the counseling.

That is awesome! Kudos to both you and mom for the willingness to get help for yourselves. That's HUGE! A generation or so ago, I was exposed to Alateen when my mom was in treatment, but she refused to let me go back as she didn't want anyone "airing our dirty laundry". Alcoholism and addiction truly is a family disease, but back then there was much shame attached to it.

Even now, though, many teens themselves don't want to acknowledge a problem, or that it affects them. I'm so glad you have the support and willingness you need to get through this.

hey ryan - glad to hear you are getting into counseling and are going to give alateen a try. so glad you are willing to take action in helping yourself today so that you can start to thrive. many of us here didn't get to that point until much later in life and carrying that stuff around with us for so long only made it worse. you are getting a head start - bravo!!! let us know how things go for you!

congrats on the win!!!

I am so very happy to hear this! Please keep us posted on how things work out for you.

Ryan, that is awesome news all the way around! Keep up the good work Lil' Bro. Many times, alcoholism and addiction sadly turns into a multi-generational family tradition, but it doesn't have to! The nightmare can end with your generation. Hang in there, and keep us informed.

Hang loose, Doc.
