I honestly don't understand that statement.
Five, I don't know what your experience has been. I can say I have attended some Al-Anon meetings that were very reminiscent of the religion I was raised in. I walked out. Don't confuse the program with individuals. But most of all, try to feel good about the fact that you took control of your life and left behind something that did not work for you. You can and will be a source of strength and understanding for anyone else who is feeling the way you do.
