Yup... I agree. For some reason, I used to put so much emphasis on the "trust" in our marriage; if I couldn't trust him, than he had to go. But you are right (or whoever said it was right
)... We have to turn this in on ourselves. Of course we cannot trust our alcoholic; the disease is so sly and manipulative, whether they are drinking or not. But it has more to do with US. It is more important to trust that WE can take care of ourselves. As long as WE are being open and honest, that is we really need to worry about. And of course in the end it is a matter of what we chose to accept in our lives; if the lies, deceit, manipulation etc are not something we WANT... we can chose to leave, or let live.
