Also something I learned a lot about in rehab was about how as addicts we don’t like to wait for our reward system in the brain to be triggered and release dopamine. We want it instantly and that is what alcohol did for us. Our brains are just neurons and signals and the brain wants the reward, so it triggers all kinds of sensations to get us to give it what it wants. It’s not personal lol that is just what the brain is designed to do.

Sugar is another quick reward to release dopamine to the brain, it’s the quickest and most accessible and easiest way to get that chemical trigger going so no wonder the brain tries to use that to its advantage!
