Yikes. Rereading this, I see I focused on the wrong thing and it was incomplete. I meant to say sure it's "scary" going to a meeting the first time, but it was like that for every single person in the room. Even the ones who are now warm, kind, smiling, happy, and in a good place in their recovery. They were just like you and me at one time. And you will be just like them one day. You will feel more comfortable as time goes on, and one day you'll laugh at yourself at how scared you were. Then you'll come back on SR and help someone new just like yourself.
