Hi Amin, I’m really glad you found SR! You’ve gotten through the first step which is recognizing you have a problem with alcohol. You are not alone. My drinking also progressively worsened when I was escaping from emotional pain. Then it got to be a bad habit and a big problem.

I had to work on changing myself to stay sober and fight urges. Many join AA, and that is always an option. I started going to therapy to get to the root of my problem and work on better coping skills. I had to break up with so,e of my friends, at least for a while, some of them permanently. I started many new healthy habits including yoga, meditation, exercise, journaling, checking in here to SR. I also practice gratitude every day and it has helped me so much to change my perspective on my life.

You are so young! The time to stop permanently is now. You can do it! Life is so much better sober.

Hope to see more of you here.
