All the comments here are great, especially as we approach the holiday season. I wish that I had the benefit of some of these ideas when I was working and faced situations that I knew were dangerous for me. Depending upon the job it's not always possible to avoid work situations where there will be drinking involved. How we prepare ourselves in advance can make all the difference, especially in early sobriety. I have a work situation coming up in the Spring where there will be a cocktail hour, but as the conference coordinator I plan to excuse myself from being there by citing other responsibilities, as will not even have a year under my belt at that time. In the interim it's one day at a time.
