I once made the mistake, while visiting friends in London, of commenting on the beauty of their back
yard .They were aghast (in good humor, though) that I referred to their beautiful garden as a pile of asphalt
On another note, we once found ‘evidence’ that a bear had travelled through our yard. There had been reports that a young bear had been seen in our and another neighboring county (where it was ultimately captured) and taken to a usual bear territory. Until it was caught, I suspended lawn and garden chores.
