For my first social event, I was able to "come clean" with a couple of friends. One was respectful of my wishes while the other didn't belive me and tried several times to buy me a drink. Unfortunatly, I had to raise my voice at him, but the moment quickly passed and I did have fun. We did leave at a 'respectful' time and I was quite happy with myself. I also recall having quite a bit of anxiety about the whole thing for weeks prior.
