If your sponsor suspects you’ve been drinking again and not being honest about it, it could be why she distanced herself. The sponsor-sponsee relationship is not a perfect one, as we are all just people trying to stay sober.
HALT is just a mechanism to remind ourselves how important the physical aspect is in getting and staying sober. Many people are triggered by these things and don’t even realize it. In my experience, AA does not have to be a one size fits all formula; it promotes recommendations, but is not rigid in nature. Certainly follow whatever your doctors said before worrying about whether or not you think it conforms to AA standards.
If you were hospitalized for withdrawal, just know that the symptoms you’re experiencing will pass if you continue healthy habits. Diet and exercise are super important in my plan. If anyone told me otherwise, I would choose to disregard!
