I left work about 3:30pm every day and drank until I fell asleep or passed out, and on weekends or days off work I started drinking as soon as I could stomach a beer in the morning and went all day long.

I had a long list of associated problems due to my drinking:

- High Blood Pressure/Pulse/heart palpitations
- GI issues (GERD, GI spasms, dry heaves almost every day, etc )
- Overweight
- Diagnosed ( after the fact ) GAD and health anxiety
- Elevated liver enzymes, bruised easily, anemic ( likely due to poor nutrition ).

I can happily say that pretty much all of those problems are either gone or managed now. Quitting drinking was a the major factor, but also improving my diet ( used to drink my dinner ) and getting some exercises helped out a lot too.
Hi Scott,

Thanks very much for your reply. I was wondering how long it took for your health to improve?

As I have mentioned previously in this thread, I have an anxiety disorder too. I understand many of us do, and alcohol is our way of self-medicating.
