Glad your here at SR
As I understand the chat here it is mostly for meetings, not sure how many people are hanging out in there. I had problems with getting in also.
You have to,
Clear your name out of the window and then re register for chat, you can use the same password.
This was not working for me either, so I sent myself the link to my email to remind myself to try again, and when I used the link to go to the page it allowed me to reregister for chat, go figure.
I hope this helps, I am no tech wizard for sure.
