Hey, Red. Alcoholism is a progressive disease that is ultimately fatal unless treated. If alcohol rules your life that is truly a bad thing and it will only get worse.
I used to think I was a 'functional' alcoholic, and I did manage for quite some time until I suddenly realized that I was well and truly hooked. It was a sad, degrading existence and I needed a lot of help to stop.
