I know you're scared of the idea of no alcohol; it's a bit overwhelming to consider at first...

...but you should be more scared of continuing to drink yourself to the point of needing medical treatment; I've heard that liver failure is a nasty way to go out of this world. I was getting close to that point myself when I finally accepted that I couldn't drink anymore.

It sounds like you're reaching that point yourself. Don't think of it as giving something up; think of it as keeping yourself alive, because it really does get that serious.

Please take advantage of the local support you have available, and follow their instructions. If you can muscle through the initial detoxification, it gets better every single day that you're sober, I promise. And hang out here, and let us know how you're doing. We've all been there...
