But the question revolved around, or at least I took it as, how does one determine which of the 'methods' of recovery is best. I was trying to point out that abstinence isn't a 'method ' and the idea that one can't just start 'practicing' it without following a structured program to instill and maintain some set of required skills or practices that somehow imbue the follower with abilities to remain abstinent that were not present in the individual prior to the adherence of said method , is AV.
