Not missing it, even on New Years Eve

A couple days ago I wrote in a reply that I didn't miss alchohol, instead felt blessedly freed from it. I've been pondering that since... because it's true.

Even on New Years Eve, I wasn't into If Onlys, wishing I could have an alcoholic drink. I'm at 7 months, and I know not to get complacent, and that my progress more likely will resemble a rollercoaster curve than a straight line up, but I do feel like I've turned a corner. Drinking mind-numbing, reeking alcohol doesn't appeal to me. I'm just as happy to have a refreshing, good-for-me, sparkly non-alcoholic drink and get the wonderful feeling of good health, competence, clear-headedness, strength, pride, solid sleep, no shame and regrets, fresh breath, the best looks I can have.

So to those who think it's not possible to feel this way, it is!
Just keep going. Give it time.
Stopping is not a deprivation.
It's the best gift you can give yourself.
