The Boxer

I see so many friends here relapsing as of late, it seems to come in waves and I have been a part of this awful cycle myself.
I want to tell you all that you can stop the madness, RIGHT NOW. You drank, you relapsed. But you have got to pick yourself up now and get out. You can do it. It simply requires facing the uncomfortableness and getting on with fighting for your sobriety. Don't keep going with your relapse. You're here posting, stop drinking now.
I know what that misery feel like, and I know what it feels like to just want to give up, the fight is so exhausting, but you have to keep going. The more you pick yourself up the stronger you become and I just know that sooner or later this will be the last time. I am convinced, with all of my heart that I am sober for good, but god forbid I do drink again I will stop it as soon as I can and get right back to fighting. We have to.

In the clearing stands a boxer
And a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders
Of ev'ry glove that laid him down
Or cut him till he cried out
In his anger and his shame
"I am leaving, I am leaving"
But the fighter still remains.
