I'm on the see a therapist crowd as well. GP's aren't well schooled in mental illness and often times will hand out benzos when another medication would be more warranted.
Therapy alone can help quite a bit with your issues, and usually people start off on non-addictive drugs like SSRI's, then work up to benzos if they are needed.
