Each time I stop drinking, I always lose 20lbs in the first month. I focus on eating healthy and also cut out bread, though. Basically like a detox diet. The times I've been most successful in not drinking are the times I focus on what I'm eating and get creative with healthy meals ... learning how to be good to myself basically.
Typically the worst of the bloat goes away around day 11 for me. I always feel that even if you don't eat super healthy you'll lose weight anyway if you cut alcohol because it confuses your poor system so much ... once the booze is gone your body can finally do the job it's meant to do.
