Back to AA: Another helpful thing

So as I mentioned in an earlier thread, I'm going back to AA after a relapse and I promised to share one helpful thing from each meeting. Today's meeting was a step meeting and the topic was step eight, making a list of all people we had harmed. One person said that before she began to contemplate this, she thought that everyone else was in the wrong and she was always right. A greater ability to see her part in things had helped give her a much improved sense of perspective. There was also a lot of talk about the practicalities of making amends but I wasn't particular concerned about that part today. What was useful was to hear how someone had just got a more rounded picture of things by calming down and giving it some thought. She didn't really need to say that it's much easier to do that sober than drunk because I think everyone in the meeting realised that.

So, even though it's been hard to go back to AA, I've heard helpful things at each meeting so far.
