(4) Years Today!!!

I wanted to take a moment to stand up and pat myself on the back, as today marks four years booze free and I'm very proud of that, so I wanted to brag. I've earned it.

For those who are new and perhaps reading this, then please know that there is still life after booze, and even better life. The trick is finding (creating) it. It has to be different, period.

For me, I've gone from pounding 18+ beers a day to logging in 50+ miles a week in runs and hikes. This is a much different life than before, but MUCH better.

It took me a couple years to find my 'nitch' since I was away from booze, but I was able to and drinking does not ever cross my mind these days. This is a far cry from (4) years ago to the date, when I received a call from my doc's office in reference to highly elevated liver enzymes. I was even making an early morning cocktail to keep the shakes at bay when the call came in if I recall. In-other-words, I was a mess.

I wish you all the best and again, it is worth it. I just can't stress enough how important it is to somehow reinvent yourself. I stole a quote from another member years ago, where in essence he said that you need to create a life where alcohol just does not belong, which was my 'secret' too.

Stay the coarse-
