In my experience, prescribed medication taken as prescribed is understood as necessary. This is especially since so much alcohol and drug use is self-medicating.

I don't see much of this type of attitude in AA at all.
I wouldn't listen to it if I did.
I account to God and I work the program.
I don't need anyone else's affirmation or approval.
