Ya.. I have had similar situations with "the family" although not long vacations.
Yep.. I was the party guy and the one that usually got wasted. But never in a bad way. So naturally when I quit... The "gang" of drinkers at family gatherings was like "what's up" and asking me why and was I serious? They could not believe I was quitting.
I too have had to "explain" that I was done with drinking (to family) on several occasions through the past year.
BUT thankfully and finally now, they "get it" that I am serious and not drinking anymore. So now things are a bit more normal.. I just hang out with my cold drink and swig it just like they do theirs.
