Under his addiction, my son is an amazing man, kind, funny, good worker, thoughtful and gentle...everyone loved his personality and charm.
That person has been lost for many years now, and the damage done to his body and brain would make it unlikely that he could ever be that person again.
Your own sobriety...your life...depends on you staying clean and that means removing yourself from anything resembling addiction.
I'm sorry this will be painful for you, but in time you will be glad you chose a better path.
