Just sat, soaking in the glory of the colours and shapes of the autumnal leaves. Hanging by threads, rotating in the breeze, becoming detached, then spinning to the ground in all their glory.

Where have I been all my life? Not present, that's for sure. Plus, transfixed by the low sloping sun, catching the cobwebs on the grass and spinning off rainbows.

Then I looked up, heard a noise and amazingly, it was the sound of a crow, flying overhead. I could actually hear it's wing beats! All of my senses are so much more acute since stopping drinking.

This planet has such miraculously simple beauty and I've been blind to it.
