I looked it up in one of my nursing books.. it says with liver cell damage, ALT will be fifty times the normal value. They said slightly elevated. Would you call fifty times normal value slight, I have no idea... It also says it can be elevated with conditions involving other organs, and with use of certain medications.. I dunno.. I don't understand delivering this information over the phone and leaving you to interpret it, if that's what they did.. Why not do it in office? Because ALT needs to be correlated with other liver enzyme values and over a period of time to diagnose a cause.
