I was sober about a year and watched The Birdcage. There's a scene where they are panicking about the guests coming over and they are pouring whiskey and gulping it. I remember thinking "Oh, that's interesting. They are using alcohol to calm themselves during extreme stress." I was just thinking this very objectively.
It was a strange moment of thinking how I won't be doing that anymore. This was early in sobriety. I don't find that anything in movies or TV really triggers me anymore.
I will continue to be fascinated how people stop after one or two. How do they do that?
