And I agree that the commitment to stop drinking has to be for you, for no one and nothing else or it simply isn't sustainable, in my experience. Letting go of a relationship can be one of the hardest things to do, but it sounds like you are doing it for all of the right reasons. Keep posting and let us know how you are doing, ok?
