When I walked into the rooms it was at that point I was beyond human aid - myself or anyone else's. It took a power greater than this old drunk to remove the obsession to drink. My part was go to meetings - work with a friend / sponsor and engage in doing the steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Around 90 days and step 3 the obsession to drink was removed. Prior to that I went to multiple meetings per day , prayed, read the big book and interacted with other alcoholics. Self will and self knowledge only carried me so far.
