A cat showed up at my back door yesterday. Obviously an indoor wet-food-fed cat, about 8 or 9 months old. I will take him around the neighborhood on the off chance he got loose from a neighbor's house, but I really doubt that's what happened.
I would love to sit down and have a chat with all the suburbanites who think dropping their unwanted animals at the farm is a good idea.
For future reference, if you ever think about doing that: Your dropped off dog has a life expectancy of less than 24 hours. Your dropped off cat might last a few days.
This cat got lucky -- I will find him a home. Most do not get so lucky.
