Good idea to avoid threads that you find upsetting, but I'd just like to note for the record that however it may look to outsiders (or sometimes even to the victims themselves), remaining in an abusive relationship is seldom truly "voluntary," based on my own experience with thousands of such situations. I don't need for you to agree with me, but I'm just noting that for the benefit of others.
