The year before last I unexpectedly ran out of propane on the night before Thanksgiving (Propane is the fuel of choice for heating and cooking out here in the middle of nowhere Ohio). With no source of propane for Thanksgiving day, I cooked the entire meal for a gathering of about 15 people on my (admittedly large) charcoal grill -- including a 24 pound turkey. I cooked all the sides in the smoker box on the side of the grill. Long story short, it was the best turkey I've ever had.

So this year I cooked the turkey on the grill on purpose. Once again, it was fantastic. I cooked all the other stuff inside though An added advantage is that there was plenty of room in the turkey-free oven to do roasted potatoes.
