A little of both probably? I experienced withdrawal with librium twice, after drinking very heavily for sustained periods & heard music & voices & saw things that were not there. This was entirely attributable to alcohol withdrawal & within a week, the worst of the withdrawal was over. Then it was all about the staying stopped :-)
