The contrast is stark for me and I'm frankly repulsed by some of my past. It haunts me at times but I try to remember the phrase "look back but don't stare". And like Conquest said we can frame the past as a tool to keep us walking in the right direction.
I shake my head in disbelief sometimes when I think about my alcoholic time. One good thing about each day of our sober 'present' is that it soon becomes part of the past - a past we can be proud of.
