I think that once we start to get our sober perspective it's to be expected that we recoil a bit when we see our former selves in the light of sobriety. The contrast is stark for me and I'm frankly repulsed by some of my past. It haunts me at times but I try to remember the phrase "look back but don't stare". And like Conquest said we can frame the past as a tool to keep us walking in the right direction.
