Hey Casey, it's strange sometimes in recovery, at least in my experience. Pretty big stuff can happen but it's like you prepare yourself mentally for it and then it's hard but you get through it. Often it's the "small" things that appear to come out of nowhere that prove to be the sternest tests. I remember not long ago coming back from a funeral which I handled really well only to have a difficult phone conversation with my mother, leading to some really tough cravings over the following couple of days. I think that early recovery is something of a rollercoaster and you never know where the next highs and lows are coming from.

It was interesting for me to hear that, for SW, this kind of stuff began to level out at 5 months. I make 5 months today as does Inc (who shares my sober birthday) so congratulations to him and onward and upward. There is an up for every down so it's just a question of riding out the lows! Only you decide about that first drink!
