HA, HA, HA! I owned a dog like this! An American Eskimo, known for being gentle and wimpish, but barking ferociously at every new thing in sight! (she barked at the Christmas tree; she barked at my husband in a winter hat; once she barked at some tires in the garage).

My kids went to a small Catholic school with a carpool line instead of buses. Twenty-five cars along the curb , with a bunch of kids all getting out at the same time.

In the mornings we would get ready for school. The second I would reach for the doorknob of the closet, the dog would leap in the air and twirl in anticipation of going in the car. She sat politely until we got to school: then she went into a barking frenzy, wagging her tail like crazy. She even lunged her head at them (but we kept the windows up).

Then as soon as we left the parking lot, she was placid again!
