I have this really bizarre memory, standing in front of my mother's bedroom mirror with a glass of non-alcoholic ginger ale, and pretending I was famous and being interviewed because I was able to drink copious amounts of alcohol without getting remotely drunk. I've never know quite what to make of that, but it seems a bit sad to me.
I can remember as a little kid sitting with a TV tray (remember those?) and watching Westerns with my grandfather (who didn't drink) He loved Westerns. And I would have a bottle of coke and pour it one shot at a time into a little glass. Then shoot it down whenever the Western hero was in a saloon.
