AA meetings are sorta kinda like that--they're definitely all about the power of one alcoholic helping another, much like these forums.
But there are all different types of actual meetings. Most of them have someone picking a recovery-related topic and then others sharing on that, but there also meetings where one or two people get up and speak at length about their experiences. And then there are book study meetings as well.
You should give a meeting a try. The only requirement is a desire to stop drinking. No dues or fees and you don't have to stay if it's not for you.
